Clemson LB Stanley “Buster” Hunter (So., 5’11, 225 lbs) has decided to hang-up his helmet due to his on-going battle with epilepsy. The medication is not doing what it is supposed to do, and the seizures provide too great of a risk for Hunter to continue his football career.
Coach Dabo Swinney has been “concerned” about Hunter’s battle and already limited him in spring and summer workouts. Hunter was a top LB prospect from Spartenburg, South Carolina. As a freshman, he recorded 37 tackles in 158 snaps. He was supposed to challenge for significant playing time this season.
Swinney and school officials are going to honor is full scholarship under a medical hardship waiver. He will still stay active on the team as a student assistant.
