Pittsburgh’s Jabaal Sheard took out whatever frustrations he had built up on Edward Parker this past weekend. As Sheard and Parker were jawing at each other Saturday night on East Carson Street in front of LaFond Gallery, something set the two off and the brawl began. The DE and top pass rusher threw Parker into a storefront window and proceeded to beat the living crap out of him. When Parker fell to the ground defenseless, Sheard continued to throw the 1-2 combination connecting on every punch. The beating didn’t stop until a police officer arrived at the scene and pepper sprayed Sheard.
As a result of the beating, Parker sustained multiple fractures and a contusion of the head. Sheard’s street fighting talent landed him in cop locks and he was charged with felony aggravated assault and 2 misdemeanors including resisting arrest. Sheard’s arraignment was on Sunday and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28th.
Once word got out to Dave Wannstedt and company, Sheard was suspended indefinitely for his involvement in the Saturday night showdown. Sheard’s absence from the team is a severe blow to its top flight defense. It will be interesting to see how this case pans out and what the future holds for Sheard.
