After battling cancer, Coach Chuck Amato is ready to coach again

Coach Chuck Amato refuses to let his bout with cancer stop him from continuing his passion of coaching college football. The former Florida State assistant coach is doing extremely well and is showing signs of normalcy after tackling months of therapy for a cancerous tumor in his tonsils.

Amato is slowly bouncing back from the treatment and is starting to eat solid foods again. Though Coach Chest (Amato’s nickname) lost over 20 pounds during this fight, he has not lost an ounce of desire to coach again.

When Jimbo Fisher took over the reigns at Florida State, he did not retain Amato leaving him unemployed. Since January, all Amato could think about was returning to the sidelines and was quoted as saying “without a doubt” he is ready to coach again.

Amato plans to sit out the 2010 season and devote his time to recovery. By 2011, Amato should be 100% and ready to start calling the shots. As a former head coach at NC State and with over 18 years of tutelage under Bobby Bowden, the fiery yet well respected Amato has what it takes to get back onto the field and finish off his successful coaching career.
