The depth chart for QB at the University of Georgia just got a little shorter on Sunday. Coach Mark Richt dismissed from the team troubled QB Zach Mettenberger. The redshirt freshman was poised to be the starter over Aaron Murray and Logan Gray, but now he will be lucky to graduate as a Bulldog.
Mettenbeger has been in the doghouse with Coach Richt ever since he was arrested during spring break for underage drinking, disorderly conduct, and obstruction. As a result of his arrest, he was facing at least a one game suspension. Now he has been kicked-off the team. The school is not saying whether any new incident sparked the decision as the AD just cited the dismissal was based off of violation of team rules.
This is Richt’s second dismissal this year. In the beginning of April, linebacker Montez Robinson was kicked-off the squad for misdemeanor charges and simple battery/family violence. At this point, The Bulldogs better learn how to obey their master, or Georgia’s SEC title hopes will be gone with the wind.
