Things are heating up in South Carolina and I’m not just talking about the weather. As the university is dealing with a small bout of racism, Coach Spurrier is dealing with QB attrition.
As it stands, Spurrier already lost QB Reid McCollum earlier this year and now it looks like QB Aramis Hillary is packing his bags too. The reason the name sounds familiar is Hillary was recently suspended for an arrest earlier this month for underage drinking, but was quickly reinstated back on the team conveniently at the start of spring practice.
There is no word on where Hillary will transfer to and there is question as to whether or not his departure is related to the ongoing racism issues that face the University. Spurrier believes its because of his lack of playing time, but we will really never know the truth.
Hillary is a strong armed quarterback and an elusive runner. His dual threat capability makes him a top prospect, but clearly there are off the field issues that are forcing his hand in transferring. As for the South Carolina faithful, be advised, the only QB on the roster with any playing time is Stephen Garcia. If he goes down, there will be serious cause for concern.
