Pinstripe Bowl to be played at Yankee Stadium this bowl season

Yankee Stadium will be the site for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl which will take place on December 30th., 2010. The Pinstripe Bowl will feature the #3 team from the Big East and the #6 team from the Big XII. The two conferences, along with New Era and Yankee officials, agreed to play until the 2013 college football season. Earlier this year, Army and Notre Dame agreed to play at Yankee Stadium on November 20th., 2010 also.

Football games at Yankee Stadium aren’t a new tradition as the old Yankee Stadium hosted the Gotham Bowl from 1960-1962. While some bowl traditionalists will argue that there are already more than enough bowl games, a bowl game in New York City is a great idea and should be a success. If people already travel to theĀ Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, it’s hard to imagine that there will be many open seats for the Pinstripe Bowl.
