Utah still sticking with their man…for now

Utah still honoring Tyler Shreve's (#13) scholarship for now.

Utah commit, Tyler Shreve, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery on a school official following an altercation with his high school baseball coach last week. On February 24th, Shreve was informed by Redlands East Valley High School head coach James Cordes that he was being dismissed from the team.  Shreve, unhappy with the news, wrestled Cordes to the ground before being pulled off of the coach by his father. Law enforcement was called to the scene where a report was filed by Cordes.

Shreve was arrested a few days later and is scheduled to be arraigned on May 13th. He’s also been expelled from school but will enroll elsewhere and graduate this spring. University of Utah officials have played their cards close to their chest concerning the incident and aren’t planning on making any decisions on Shreve’s status until the legal process runs its course.

Utah will tread lightly on this issue as Shreve was the 24th best QB in the nation according to ESPN.com’s 2010 recruiting rankings. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for Shreve and Utah.
