Who’s that man on the horse?

Smell like a man, man

If you’ve been wondering who that dashing young man is riding around on a horse promoting Old Spice, then you’ve come to the right place. The identity is none other than former ASU WR  Isaiah Mustafa. Mustafa may have not been a stellar wideout, but he did make it to the sidelines during the 1997 Rose Bowl lose to Ohio State, 20-17.

Unfortunately, his football career never took off. He tried out for various teams to include the Tennessee Oilers (1997), the Barcelona Dragons (1998), the Oakland Raiders (1999), Cleveland Browns (1999) and finally the Seattle Seahawks (2000). After he realized football wasn’t his thing, he opened a restaurant, Jo Jo’s BBQ, on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, but that enterprise lasted about as long as his playing days.

Since his prior endevours didn’t amount to much, he turned to television and film. Before his Old Spice fame, you may have seen this former athlete/restaurateur in shows such as Ugly Betty and Days of our Lives. However, his fame did not launch until Old Spice came knocking on his door.

It’s good to see that this man never gave up and continued to search for his calling despite many failed attempts. Congratulations to Mustafa for his new found fame and glory! Ride strong Mr. Mustafa!
