Clausen not toeing with NFL combine

Clausen's toe injury is preventing him from participating in the NFL combine

From the day Jimmy Clausen enrolled at Notre Dame, he has been scrutinized from head to toe. For those of you who don’t know him personally, his image and reputation is somewhat skeptical and arrogant. Rolling onto campus in a Hummer limousine to announce that he is going to Notre Dame and will win four titles with the Irish was one of his many antics that rubbed people the wrong way.

What made matters worse was the team’s W/L record with Clausen taking snaps under center. What most people don’t realize, Clausen is a pro-style quarterback who was mentored by an offensive genius. He may have not had team success in college, but individually he had very good numbers which will translate to playing on Sundays.

Unfortunately for Clausen, his toe is still bothering him which will keep him out of next week’s NFL combine. Clausen had surgery on his injured toe, but he is not 100%. During the combine, he wont participate in drills but he will meet with team representatives to help clear the clouded image that looms over his head.

Once you get passed Clausen’s arrogance and cockiness, you will see a QB who will someday be a franchise quarterback. In my book, Clausen is a darkhorse to be the first QB picked out of the entire bunch.

We wish Clausen all the success in the NFL. Whether you like him or not, he was definitely a player that drew attention and created excitement. During his junior season, Clausen threw for 3,722 yards and 28 touchdowns with only 4 INTs for the Irish. These numbers easily translate to a 1st round draft pick.
