Gator God Tim Tebow will serve as Grand Marshal for the Gatorade Duels (Daytona 500’s qualifying event). Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew will serve as Marshal as well. Make no mistake though, Tebow will be the crowd favorite. Fresh off of his acting debut, this is just another stop on the 2007 Heisman winner’s guest appearance circuit.
While serving as Grand Marshal is good for Tebow’s PR campaign, one can’t help but think that this downtime should be used for refining his throwing mechanics and working on drills. Even though many consider Tebow to be college football’s best player ever, skepticism still abounds on Tebow’s potential as an NFL quarterback.
There will be more than enough time for Tebow to pursue things outside of football. Right now he should spend every waking minute preparing himself mentally and physically for the NFL scouting combine (Feb. 24- March 2).
