Te'o will be back in 2010

There is some good news coming out of South Bend, Indiana. Star freshman LB Manti Te’o is going to delay his Mormon mission and he will return next season. As a freshman, he became an instant fan hit and immediately garnered the respect of his teammates with his on the field dominance amassing 63 tackles in his freshman season.

This wasn’t an easy for Te’o as he consulted his parents, family members, and his bishop before he confirmed his decision. “I knew the impact of my decision could have a positive influence on those who follow me and those who watch what I do. I always want to have a positive influence on them,” he said. “I just thought that I was sent to Notre Dame for a purpose and that is a purpose I have to devote to.”

Te’o plans on taking his two-year mission in the near future but he is not sure if he will do it after next season or just postpone it for later on in life.

I’m positive Brian Kelly and his linebacker corp pray Te’o never opts for going on his mission while an Irish as he will be heavily relied upon in the coming seasons.

Though Te’o says his decision was a spiritual decision and not a football decision, he is slated to be a starter and will help lead a strong LB corp. The questions remains, when Te’o is a first round draft pick, how much longer will he delays his mission.
