An unsanctioned team building exercise was a complete failure for Sparty and the football team. Apparently 8 football players, including 3 starters have all been suspended from team activities for their involvement in a pre-Thanksgiving, November 22nd dorm fight.

Basically, in an act of stupidity and in a fit of rage, the alleged football players stormed a fraternity gathering at Rather Hall by randomly hitting and injuring at least 7 students (both male and female). As a result of this cowardly act of violence, several individuals were injured but fortunately eye-witnesses were able to identify the aggressors as football players.

When the Spartans finished their 6-6 season after suffering a humiliating loss at the hands of Penn State, coach Mark Dantonio challenged his players to bond and regroup to ensure a post-season bowl victory. It’s safe to assume, Dantonio did not intend for his players to participate in a gang type raid as a team building exercise. But as we all know, Dantonio is already having trouble keeping tabs on his players

He recently came out of a press conference with the announcement that troubled RB Glenn Winston and Roderick Jenrette were kicked-off the team. Now, Dantonio has to decide the permanent fate of suspended starters WR Mark Dell, WR B.J. Cunnigham and DB Chris Rucker.

Fortunately for Sparty, there is a huge gap between the regular season and post season play. This will give the team time to regroup and focus on their upcoming bowl game.

Others suspended: RB Aston Leggett, WR Fred Smith, DB Brynden Trawick, DL Ishmyl Johnson and LB Jamiihr Williams.
