Penn State’s former top RB Austin Scott is laying down the law after being kicked-off the team and dealing with an alleged sexual assault charge back in 2007. On Tuesday, he filed a civil suit against Penn State, Penn State Police, and Centre County, alleging that the sexual assault charges filed against him damaged his reputation and NFL career.

Back in October 0f 2007,  a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted at Scott’s on-campus residence. Criminal charges where filed shortly thereafter. However, after a comprehensive investigation by the University and the prosecutor’s office, it was decided that the rape, sexual assault, simple assault, and indecent assault charges would be dropped.

Scott’s civil suit is claiming that the entire incident has cost him over $300,000. If it were up to me, I would have claimed a lot more money, but maybe he figured he wouldn’t be a top NFL back. I mean he was signed in 2008 by the Cleveland Browns but was released during the pre-season. Also, there is negative history in that Scott was frequently on Paterno’s bad side. All of these issues factor into a poor professional career.

For you legal buffs, the suit should be available on-line shortly, it was filed with the U.S. Middle District Court in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
