Michigan State’s Glenn Winston finally got what he deserved. If you don’t recall, Winston was the RB who beat the snot out of a Michigan State hockey player, A.J. Sturges. The beat down earned Winston six months in jail plus probation. He was also indefinitely suspended from the football team, but, much to the dismay of the student body, Winston was subsequently reinstated after he served his time.
Winston was on pace for a successful return as he has amassed 204 rushing yards and 2 TDs thus far. He is the second ranked back on the team. However, Winston’s comeback has come to a screeching halt. During the first half of the Spartans 24-14 win over Illinois, Winston buckled his right knee. The severity of the injury was unknown at the time, but it was clear there was a serious problem as he was carted off the field to the locker room at halftime. After the diagnosis, it was determined that Winston will have to undergo season-ending knee surgery.
