Arizona has lost all Pac-10 tight end Rob Gronkowski for the season. The 6’6, 265 lb. junior injured his back during a weight training session a few weeks before the start of the season and hasn’t played in a game for the Wildcats this year. He is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the damage done to his back. Arizona has been lackluster on offense so far this season as a result of not having Gronkowski. Wildcat QB Nick Foles, addressed losing Gronkowski for the season, “Without (Gronkowski) that’s a big dimension of our offense that we have to do without,” Foles said. “He’s a big guy that not a lot of people can cover so (Gronkowski’s absence) is going to hurt.”
Gronkowski played in 10 games last season and amassed 672 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. This loss is huge for ‘Zona and its effect has already been felt 3 games into the season. Hopefully the ‘Cats will scheme accordingly as the season progresses and find better ways to distribute the ball.
