The ACC almost took another loss at the hands of a D 1-AA team. Somehow, Maryland was able to squeak by James Madison University in OT 38-35. The win, which is nothing to praise about, proved to be a little more costly than anticipated. The Washington Post is reporting that Maryland’s senior DB Nolan Carroll broke his tibia midway through the 4th quarter.
Carroll was carted off the field and will more than likely be out for the rest of the season. Unfortunately for the Terrapins, who gave up 417 total yards, do not have a lot of depth and talent at that position.
On the injury, “I feel very bad for Nolan because he was playing so well and it’s great to see how he has matured and developed in one year,” Friedgen said. “He’s very dear to my heart. I am praying everything will be okay for him because I really think he has a future.”
From a positive perspective, Maryland is on a one game winning streak. Next up, Middle Tennessee State–a team that has gave the Terrapins trouble in the past.
