Big things come in small packages. Just ask the Kansas State Wildcats. Wildcat WR Brandon Banks only stands 5’7 but he plays like he’s much bigger. The speedster from North Carolina burst onto the scene last season with impressive numbers and snatched up Big XII Offensive Player of the Year honors as a result. He’s been compared to the likes of Reggie Bush, Percy Harvin, and Noel Divine. His road to Manhattan, KS was a non-traditional one that included a stop in Bakersfield, CA, but he’s made a splash everywhere he’s played and garnered respect in the process. Banks played JUCO ball at Bakersfield (CA) College and turned heads nationally with a 4-TD performance in the California junior college state championship game. “That’s when people really started to notice me,” Banks said.
It didn’t take long for Division I schools to come calling. K-State signed him, and his impact was felt immediately last season. Banks torched the almighty Oklahoma Sooner defense with 145 yards and added 3 more 100-yard receiving games to his 2008 resume. He finished the year with 1049 receiving yards and 9 receiving TDs. Look for the Brandon Banks show to take off in the Little Apple this year with Bill Snyder back at the helm. Snyder may even use him in the Wildcat formation. His athleticism and elusiveness make him a threat anywhere on the field, and the Wildcats will make sure that he gets his fair share of touches. He will make his presence known and will be an explosive and exciting weapon on offense.
