Is Alabama set to be tops in the SEC, BCS?

We’re here to give you a rundown of the college football picks for Week 1 of the new season and which games may have the best available value to attack.

While there’s a huge amount of games for opening week, there’s only a few we’re going to touch on here.

First off, we’d be foolish not to start things off with the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide. They’ll take on Michigan in Arlington, Texas in what should be a great one.

Right now Nick Saban’s team is favored by 10.5 points at the sportsbooks. Given how special that defense was last season, it’s hard to argue with such a line.

Staying in the SEC, we’ve got Auburn/Clemson in Atlanta and Vanderbilt taking on South Carolina in Nashville.

At the neutral site, it’s Clemson that’s favored by oddsmakers, while the Commodores are getting as many as 10 points at home against a Gamecocks team that should have one of the nastiest defenses in the conference.

Boise State battles with Michigan State in Week 1 too, another meeting between two top 25 mainstays. The Spartans are the chalk, giving away 7.5 points to a normally potent Broncos offense.

There’s no shortage of rivalry games either in the first week. Navy takes on Notre Dame, Louisville faces off against Kentucky, West Virginia tests their might versus Marshall and even Colorado and Colorado State play each other.

Of those, the biggest favorite of the bunch are the Mountaineers. They’re favored by a whopping 22 points over Marshall and will be hoping to make a good first impression in their debut in the Big 12.

Clearly we’re in for quite the first week. We’ve got some early top 25 battles and some rivalry matchups too. Can the season get here already?
