Mike Gundy, who has a history of uncontrollable temper, faces a $10,000.00 lawsuit

Team loyalty in the ranks of college football is second to none and a carpenter from Choctaw, Oklahoma now knows too well.  Back in March, Oklahoma State football head coach Mike Gundy hired a contractor to do over $80,000.00 worth of home improvement projects to his Stillwater home.  On the day the project began, one of the carpenters, Brent Loveland, unwisely showed up to Gundy’s house wearing a gray Oklahoma baseball t-shirt.  Upon seeing the rival shirt, coach Gundy just about lost it yelling, “how dare you [Loveland] come into my house and offend my wife” wearing that shirt on “OSU soil.” In a blank stare, Loveland asked Gundy what he was talking about.  Gundy, with his trucker’s mouth, replied with “that f&%*!-ing shirt you have on.”

Gundy then proceeded with more profanity which “would make a sailor blush” and began calling him a “stupid idiot.” Loveland apologized and tried to make peace with the feisty ball coach and even offered to wear the shirt inside-out. Gundy didn’t want any part of the deal, refused his apology, and fired the poor contractor on the spot.

At no time was Loveland told or instructed to not wear Oklahoma gear at Gundy’s house. Gundy apparently handled the situation a bit unconventionally. There were probably better ways to resolve the t-shirt incident and now Gundy will have to pay.

As a result of the termination and embarrassment, not to mention the money lost from expected income, Loveland filed suit in Payne County District Court against Gundy and his wife, Kristen, seeking more than $10,000.00 in damages.
