The Big 10 flexes its muscles

Looking back before last season, the Big 10 failed miserably come post-season play. However, this season the Big 10 is looking very strong despite struggles from yester-year. On Tuesday, Iowa took down #12 Missouri 27-24 in the Insight Bowl and on Wednesday Illinois, surprising to some, dominated Baylor 38-14 in the Texas Bowl. The conference is starting to show that it is finally out of its slump and returning back to elite status. To the true fan, this turn-around...

Kevin Wilson: Indiana’s new $8 million dollar man

Kevin Wilson became Indiana’s new $8 million dollar man by inking a seven-year $8.4 million dollar deal with the hopes of restoring an Indiana Hoosiers team that is arguably the worst team in the Big X. Wilson is an offensive mastermind who brings to the table a spread open offense that was highly productive during his years at Oklahoma. Minnesota to Kill coaching rumors

The internet was a buzz regarding potential coaching rumors to replace ousted Minnesota coach Tim Brewster. It appears the university has tempered those rumors and will name Northern Illinois’ Jerry Kill as the next head coach of the Golden Gophers on Monday. Kill, who is coming off of a 10-3 season and a 34-23 win over Minnesota back in September, had much success at Northern Illinois amassing a 23-16 record and 3 bowl appearance during his 3 seasons at...

Illinois and Northwestern prep for one end zone

Because watching Illinois and Northwestern play at historical Wrigley Field isn’t interesting enough, it looks like the powers-that-be are adding an additional twist to the game by utilizing only one end zone. Since a football field really isn’t designed to fit inside a baseball field, there is some safety concerns at Wrigley’s east end zone. The end zone in question is only feet away from the heavily padded right field wall which presents a potential hazard for players. Being this...

JoePa rallies troops, wins number 400

Beaver Stadium was quieter than Pattee Library during final exam week as Northwestern jumped out early for a 21-0 lead. However, the tide turned for Penn State with the Nittany Lions driving over 90 yards for a TD in the final seconds of the half to cut the lead to 21-7. Joe Paterno’s halftime pep talk and quest to reach 400 victories was more than enough inspiration for his players to come out storming in the second half. The...

The man behind the Nittany Lion mask, dismissed

There are many true freshman making an impact on the gridiron for the Nittany Lions. However, one former true freshman is no longer welcomed on the Beaver Stadium sidelines. Nittany Lion mascot and gymnast Clint Gyory, the first true freshman to win the rights to be the Nittany Lion mascot, has been permanently relieved of his mascot duties and stripped from his scholarship. Gyroy’s issues first became public when he was issued citations in August 2010 for underage drinking, public drunkenness,...

Penn State wigs out for Robinson and the Wolverines

Halloween is being celebrated a little earlier in State College, Pennsylvania. As Penn State is gearing up for the Michigan Wolverines, the coaching staff provided scout-team QB/WR Evan Lewis with some fake long dreads to help further mimic and simulate Michigan QB Denard Robinson. Some PSU players got a chuckle out of Lewis’s new hair-do, but after watching some videotape and Lewis in action, the defense is not laughing one bit at Robinson’s shiftiness and blazing speed. Robinson leads...
