Houston, you do have a problem

Houston tried to mount a comeback but fell short 37-32 against UCF. Houston boasts one of the most prolific offenses in the nation. The team had a strong start of the season by upsetting Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. However, an unexplainable lose to UTEP and now UCF has taken Houston and Keenum out of the national spotlight. Case Keenum’s Heisman hopes have also dissipated but still had solid numbers throwing for 377 yards and 3 TDS. Prior to...

To be free

Nu’Keese Richardson was a top prospect recruited by the nation’s elite programs. He was wined and dined, and given everything a top recruit should receive during his recruiting heyday. It seems though, the same suitors that went after Richardson aren’t doing much to help him out as he was sitting behind bars since Thursday for his arrest for attempted armed robbery. After a lengthy delay and much after DB Mike Edwards and Safety Janzen Jackson were released, Richardson was...

SC’s top WR is out

You wont see Southern California’s WR Damian Williams on the field this weekend against Stanford. His lingering right ankle injury will keep the high-powered receiver on the sidelines. The Trojan’s will certainly miss their leading receiver who has amassed 45 catches  for 688 yards and 5 TDs. Unfortunately for the Trojans, no receiver even comes close to his numbers. Joe McKnight is the closest with 17 catches. Their number 2 receiver Ronald Johnson will have to step-up and take...

Clemson will take down N.C. State

The Matador can’t seem to get over that .500 threshold, but things will change this Saturday. I am calling for a huge win for Clemson. Clemson is less than a TD favorite (-4.5) against N.C. State. I’m not sure how this line was set. The Wolfpack’s offense is pretty much an air attack and Clemson is ranked 2nd in the ACC for pass defense. Ergo, when push comes to shove, N.C. State doesn’t have the game plan or the...

The Big 10 disappoints again

The Big Ten is having another down year with their vanilla type offense and no standout team. So in keeping with the conference’s theme of plain, the Big 10 is introducing a new piece of hardware for its collection of rivalry trophies. Now Michigan and Minnesota battle for the Little Brown Jug and Michigan State faces off every season against Penn State for the Land Grant Trophy, both need some work, but the historical value is appreciated. What is...

Vols Players brandish (pellet) gun, end up behind bars

Lane Kiffin will need to keep his mouth shut from this point on after three of his freshman players were arrested for attempted armed robbery this morning. The three players who found themselves handcuffed were top recruit wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson, starting safety Janzen Jackson and defensive back Mike Edwards. Also along for the ride was Marie Montmarquet (not affiliated with the program). The accused were stalking their pray at a Pilot gas station on the Strip near Tennessee’s...

Thunder Collins behind bars for life

The Matador is sad to report that Nebraska great RB Thunder Collins has just been handed a quasi-death sentence. He will remain behind bars for the rest of his life for his role in the September 2008 incident that involved the shooting and killing of 38 year old Timothy Thomas and the serious wounding of Marshall Turner. Collins was a campus legend in Omaha for his game changing performances, now his name remains infamous for this heinous crime. In...

JoePa says no need for a special teams coach

For those of you who witnessed Ohio State’s trouncing of the Nittany Lions this past Saturday 24-7, there was one obvious factor that plagued Penn State–FIELD POSITION. Penn State found itself on their side of the 50 for almost every offensive series. This poor field position can be blamed on one thing, special teams. Penn State’s special teams is sub-part at best. Among 120 D-1 football teams, PSU is a paltry 115th in net punting (31.7) yards. This horrible punting...
