This Jefferson is not Movin’ on Up

It’s getting a little Waco in Texas with Baylor’s Willie Jefferson being dismissed from the team after his second drug charge arrest in less than two weeks. Jefferson was arrested Thursday afternoon in Bell County after a routine traffic stop. Police found in his possession an ounce of “Hydro,” a high-potency form of marijuana, resulting in an arrest for misdemeanor marijuana possession. Jefferson is no stranger to sitting in the back seat of a police car. Last week (October...

Stanford alum John Elway loses millions in Ponzi Scheme

Hall of Famer and legendary Stanford QB John Elway got duped out of approximately $15 million from a hedge-fund manager who was recently arrested for running a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme. The Stanford grad, who happened to be an econ major, and his business partner invested their millions with 42 year-old Sean Mueller. Mueller created the Mueller’s Hedge-Fund Account that used investors’ deposits to pay off older investors. A simple Ponzi scheme that always fails once the investors dry...

Failing to Make the Grade: Penn State’s Offense

The first half of the season has been a blink of an eye for most programs; however, it has been a drawn-out yawner for Nittany Lions fans. With a sputtering offense (ranked 107th in scoring) and virtually no ground game (ranked 85th in rushing), the Nittany Lions are welcoming a much needed bye week. After opening the first half of the season with a disappointing 3-3 record and posting its first consecutive 20 point losses since the 1980’s, there...

Spiders lose heralded QB Aaron Corp

QB Aaron Corp’s future continues to be filled with uncertainty. The once named starter for SC back in 2009, transferred to Richmond during the off-season after being dethroned by current Trojan QB Matt Barkley. In 2010, Corp joined FCS Richmond and first-year coach Latrell Scott with the hopes of rebuilding a Spiders program that lost several key players from last year’s stellar 11-2 squad. Unfortunately, Corp’s modest start came to a sudden halt on Saturday after he suffered a...

OSU’s James Rodgers out for the Season?

James Rodgers (#8) was having a stellar game against Arizona until he went down hard on his left leg leaving his season in jeopardy. Oregon State may have walked out of Tucson, Arizona a winner (29-27), but it came at a costly price. The Beaver’s versatile and elusive senior WR James Rodgers significantly injured his left leg after hauling in a 56 yard TD pass that was ultimately nullified due to an OSU penalty. Rodgers, who was hit by...

Pelini’s Peso Worth Every Dollar

Without a doubt, Nebraska boasts the best defense in college football and the man responsible is Carl Pelini. Not to take anything away from QB Taylor Martinez and the Cornhuskers’ explosive ground game, but it’s Carl Pelini’s ingenious defensive schemes that is responsible for a 5-0 start. On Thursday, Nebraska opened Big XII play in dominating fashion, limiting Kansas State’s Heisman hopeful RB Daniel Thomas to just 63 yards on 22 carries, well below his 157 yards/game average. Currently,...

High School Football Player has Amputation

There is no question that football is a violent sport and it’s not too often that players pay dearly for putting on the pads. Most recently, Kansas High School senior Trevor Roberts had to have part of his left leg amputated after breaking his tibia and fibula earlier this season. Roberts, who was having a remarkable game for McLouth, amassed 193 yards and 3 TDs in the first half of the game against Sunrise Christian Academy before he sustained...
