It’s time to pass the torch

Florida State is 0-2 in the ACC for the first time ever and now all eyes are on Coach Bobby Bowden. The most notable is Jim Smith, the chair of the university’s Board of Trustees. Smith spoke out openly saying its time for the Bowden Era to end.  “My hope is frankly that we’ll go ahead, and if we have to, let the world know that this year will be the end of the Bowden Era,” said Smith, who has...

Wilson’s record ends at 379

Pass attempt 380 proved to be fateful for North Carolina State‘s Russell Wilson. During this past Saturday’s match-up against Wake, Wilson’s 379 consecutive passes without an interception came to an end. Wake Forest’s Josh Bush was responsible for ending the record breaking streak when he picked off a poorly thrown deep ball in the second quarter for Bush’s first career interception. Bush successfully returned the INT for 61 yards down the sideline. Wilson now holds the NCAA record of...

Warriors lose their leader

When Hawaii hosts Fresno State this Saturday, the Warriors will be without the services of QB Greg Alexander, Colt Brennan‘s successor. Alexander severely injured his left knee during Wednesday’s loss at Louisiana Tech when he was pushed out of bounds by linebacker Adrien Cole. After the diagnosis, it was determined that Alexander must undergo season ending knee surgery to repair ligament damage. This is particularly bad news for the Warriors as they are an extremely pass happy team who...

#7 USC (-4.5) 27 #24 CALIFORNIA 21 Over/Under Total: 47.5 05:00 PM Pacific Time Saturday, Oct-03 Cal was throttled last week in Oregon, losing to the Ducks 3-42 despite being a 5 1/2 point favorite. I’m sure the Bears would love to turn the tide today and they are certainly in a good situation to do so, applying to a 101-47-2 ATS blowout bounce-back situation, but I just don’t think my Bears are likely to win this game against a USC team that...

Wake Forest, a strong play?

WAKE FOREST (-2.5) 28 No Carolina St. 23 Over/Under Total: 48.0 12:30 PM Pacific Time Saturday, Oct-03 NC State has rebounded from their ugly 3-7 opening night loss to South Carolina (just 133 total yards of offense at 2.4 yards per play) and mistake free quarterback Russell Wilson had a great game last week in the Wolfpack’s 38-31 win over a good Pitt team. Wilson has broken the record for most consecutive pass attempts without throwing an interception and he’s thrown just 1...

Bicycle Cop Busts 4 Football Players

The UMass football team got a little thinner today as 4 players (DB James Carven, DL Robert McLaughlin, LB Michael Mele, and DB Shane Viveiros) were all arrested on class B drug possession charges Thursday night in downtown Amherst. These star athletes, who clearly aren’t sprinters, were arrested behind 11 East Pleasant Street by bicycle patrol after they observed suspicious activity. Once hearing of the arrests, the UMass athletic department immediately suspended all four players. However, the AD is...

Will Ohio State Cover?

Ohio St. (-17.5) 32 INDIANA 10 Over/Under Total: 47.0 04:00 PM Pacific Time Saturday, Oct-03 Indiana put a scare into an overrated Michigan team last week but ultimately lost 33-36 as the Wolverines scored the final touchdown with a couple minutes remaining in the game. That loss has got to be a heart breaker for an Indiana team that would have been 4-0 had they won and teams that lose close games as big dogs tend to be emotionally...

BOSTON COLLEGE 24 Florida St (-3.5) 23 Over/Under Total: 45.5 3:30 EST Saturday, Oct-03 Boston College has really struggled offensively, averaging just 5.0 yards per play against teams that would allow 5.8 yppl to an average team. Despite their troubled attack the Eagles actually have a pretty good team thanks to a defense that has allowed 4.1 yppl (to teams that would average 5.1 yppl against an average defensive team). The Eagles had a rough week defensively last week against...
