Stanford running back Tyler Gaffney is trading in his football helmet for a baseball cap. The would be senior running back is forgoing his final year of eligibility to play professional baseball with MLB’s Pittsburgh Pirates. Gaffney was a two-sport star at Stanford who excelled at both football and baseball. An official from an upstate New York cemetery reported last week that someone stole a football from the grave of Ernie Davis, the first black player to win the Heisman Trophy.  The cemetery is now reporting that the football was recovered over the weekend about 50 yards from Davis’ grave.
