Arkansas Seeks Dorrell Replacement

How an inappropriate relationship changed the face of a program on the up-swing.

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino not only crashed his coaching career back in April, but he took down his recruiting coordinator as well, 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell. To recall, Dorrell was forced to resign because of coach Petrino’s inappropriate relationship with her.  After the dust settled, Arkansas posted a want ad for a new on-campus recruiting coordinator.  During Dorrell’s absence, football staff members have been picking-up the slack, but with the season right around the corner, the university feels its time to replace Dorrell.

So for all you unemployed women out there, your opportunity to be the next Jessica Dorrell is one application away.  Keep in mind, the university did tweak the job position a bit meaning you actually have to have prior NFL or D-1 football experience plus knowledge of recruiting computer software—neither of which Dorrell had.

It is safe to say that competition will be stiff.  When Petrino hired Dorrell (with little to know qualifications) she was one of three to be interviewed out of a pool of 159 applicants.  She was almost immediately hired after her interview and was offered an annual salary of $55,000.  As we later learned, her bonuses, shale we say, were heavily supplemented by Petrino who forked over at least $20,000 in cash and gifts presumably in exchange for 4,300 text message, 300 cell phone calls and other services rendered.

For potential candidates, it is highly unlikely new interim head coach John L. Smith will be as generous as his predecessor, but it is still a position to consider.  The University of Arkansas is a fabulous institution with a strong football program.  However, we must urge that all candidates should apply with caution.

Where to apply:
