Minnesota to Kill coaching rumors

The internet was a buzz regarding potential coaching rumors to replace ousted Minnesota coach Tim Brewster. It appears the university has tempered those rumors and will name Northern Illinois’ Jerry Kill as the next head coach of the Golden Gophers on Monday. When head coach Tim Brewster arrived at Minnesota back in 2007 to replace Glen Mason, Gopher fans had high expectations and even set their eyes on the Rose Bowl. However, Brewster’s brief tenure at Minnesota was far from rosy. In 4 seasons, Brewster went a disappointing 15-30 with a paltry 6-21 record in Big Ten play. The Gophers catch a bad break

It looks like Minnesota’s secondary suffered a bad break this week. Junior safety Kim Royston broke his left leg during Tuesday’s practice when the team was running 7-on-7 drills. Doctors confirmed that he sustained a compound fracture in his lower leg. Royston will undergo a second round of surgery on Thursday which will sideline him indefinitely. Coach Tim Brewster just announced today the immediate suspension of two Gophers’ football players. Starting senior DE Cedric McKinley and sophomore back-up DB Tim Dandridge are both facing two game suspensions. The exact cause of the suspensions, you guessed it, violation of team rules.
