Iowa’s Norm Parker puts his best foot forward

Sadly, Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker had his right foot amputated last month due to complications from his battle with diabetes. Though he has been hospitalized since September, head coach Kirk Ferentz is anxiously waiting for Parker’s return to spur an Iowa defensive that ranks 4th in the nation allowing only 242.2 yards per game. In 2004, Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker, who suffers from diabetes, unfortunately had his left toe removed because of a serious infection. Coincidentally, the Hawkeyes won the Big Ten Championship that year and defeated LSU in the 2005 Capital One Bowl, 30-25. This year while on vacation, Parker met the same fate.
