Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly had an unprecedented 2011 campaign sweeping the trophy ranks going 4-4 in which he was named a finalist. The 6’3, 237 pound junior took home four of the nation’s top accolades for his superb individual efforts on-and-off the field. The 2011 Rotary Lombardi Award finalists were named earlier this evening from a strong pool of 12 semi-finalists at a heavily attended announcement party at Houston’s Tasting Room Wine Bar. The four finalists are: LB Dont’a Hightower (Alabama) LB Courtney Upshaw (Alabama) OT Jonathan Martin (Stanford) LB Luke Kuechly (Boston College) The 42nd Rotary Lombardi awarded will be presented on December 7, 2011 during the award show at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.

Rotary Lombardi Award semifinalists announced

The Rotary Club of Houston announced the 12 semifinalists for the 42nd annual Rotary Lombardi Award (RLA) awarded to the best college football lineman or linebacker. There are eight defensive players and four offensive players who made this year’s cut. The RLA will be awarded on December 7, 2011 at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.
