The BCS storm cleared last night as No. 4 Boise State blew a 24-7 lead falling to No. 19 Nevada with Kyle Brotzman missing an OT field goal stunning the Broncos 34-31. As Nevada stormed the field in ecstasy, the Boise State sideline was in disappointment knowing their BCS Championship birth or even a BCS bid has ended.
Meanwhile, the Ducks put on a second half clinic scoring 34 second half points punching their BCS birth ticket with a 48-29 win over Arizona. If the Ducks win next week’s Civil War against Oregon State, they are in and will be the second Pac-10 team to play in the BCS Championship game. If Oregon State manages to pull off an upset, the Ducks will do no worse than the Rose Bowl.
Auburn is also one game away from a BCS championship game as the Tigers roared back nipping the Alabama Crimson Tide 28-27 in a physical hard-hitting Iron Bowl. Auburn showed poise and tenacity after falling 21-0 in the first quarter storming back to give Alabama their second loss of the season. Cam Newton had a sluggish start, but eventually found his groove tossing 3 TD passes in Heisman-like fashion.
With the season winding down, the BCS picture is getting clearer, but TCU, LSU and Wisconsin are all inching their way towards the National Championship game.
