No Turkey for Ducks

Coach Chip Kelly to players: No turkey this Thanksgiving

When one thinks of Thanksgiving, turkey, cranberries, stuffing, and grandma’s sweet potato pie all come to mind, but for the Oregon Ducks, there will be no traditional holiday fare this season. The Ducks, who are ready to book their tickets to Glendale, have a rare Friday night game playing host to #17 Arizona. Coach Kelly has the team on a strict schedule and diet which does not include a turkey meal. But not all is lost, as Kelly found an interesting way to pay tribute to this feast of a holiday by deciding to post a picture of a turkey with all the trimmings during the team meal.

Kelly’s concern this week is Friday night’s marquee match-up, not the Thanksgiving holiday. Kelly isn’t a complete scrooge, as he is authorizing his players to spend Thursday afternoon with family and friends, but in the evening, everyone reverts back to football mode.

Not only is it senior day, but the 10-0 Ducks are aiming for a perfect season and a trip to the National Championship game and Coach Kelly will not let #17 Arizona or Thanksgiving get in his way.
