As evidenced last night during MNF, shag-a-licous Tom Brady hates Michigan State. The former Wolverine, who lead the Patriots to a dominating 41-14 rout over the Dolphins, did not want back-up Brian Hoyerto see any substantive playing time despite the Patriots sealing the victory midway through the 4th quarter late last night. Hoyer, one of Sparty’s QB career leaders in several offensive categories, was itching for playing time, but after every Miami possession change, Brady trotted back on the field to run a very simple yet effective time killing offense. Even with less than two minutes remaining, Brady and his long locks lined-up under center in victory formation to take a knee. To add insult to injury, with 59 seconds remaining, Brady in Justin Bieber-esque fashion, walked off the field grinning and let Hoyer finish up garbage duty taking the final knee on the New England 49 for -2 yards.
With Michigan being the bully and State the wimp always relinquishing its money, Brady was adding fuel to the already intense rivalry, albeit backhanded, last night by not letting Hoyer enter the game sooner. Brady was simply setting the stage for this Saturday’s match-up between #18 Michigan (5-0) and #17 Michigan State (5-0). The winner of this heated rivalry is awarded the Paul Bunyan Governor of Michigan Trophy. Michigan currently holds a dominating lead in this series 67-30-5. But don’t think for a second Brady and the Wolverine nation don’t want payback in Ann Arbor as Sparty has laid claim to the trophy for the past 2 seasons.
Both Michigan and Michigan State enter Saturday’s highly anticipated in-state rivalry game undefeated, the question remains, who will hail victor?
