QB Willy Korn goes from Clemson to Marshall to North Greenville

Former Clemson QB Willy Korn transferred to Marshall with the hopes of competing for the starting job. However, after 10 days of practice coach Doc Holliday decided to move the triggerman to safety. The position switch came to a shock to Korn who played exceptionally well during preseason practice protecting the ball and throwing accurately. Korn was displeased with the move and decided it was best to find a new home where he would have a shot at fulfilling his dream of landing that starting job.

His new team, North Greenville University, is fittingly nicknamed the Crusaders. As a Division II program, Korn can play right away and will have the opportunity to start.

Korn was an Elite 11 QB from Byrnes High School (SC). He had high expectations at Clemson but he dealt with injuries that kept him at the number 2 spot behind Kyle Parker. After his sophomore season, he transferred to Marshall as a graduate student which allowed him to play immediately with 2 years of eligibility. With Marshall falling short, North Greenville presented an opportunity with the loss of its two starting QBs during spring practice. It’s safe to say that North Greenville will be Korn’s final collegiate home. The question is, can the two-time South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year win the starting job and improve the Crusaders 2-8 dismal 2009 campaign.
