Dooley will not release Bryce Brown
Star running back Bryce Brown is ever so close to transferring to Kansas State; however, Derek Dooley is not making this process any easy. After Brown text messaged Dooley on Tuesday regarding his intentions to leave Tennessee, Dooley quickly fired back and decided to not grant Brown a release from the program.
This doesn’t mean Brown can’t transfer to Kansas State to pay ball with his older brother, it simply means he cannot receive a scholarship from Kansas State until next season. Dooley’s response to not granting the release, “It’s a professional issue…I have an obligation to protect our organization.”
Dooley is clearly being the immature coach here. Brown wants to transfer, Dooley should release him. Dooley’s action is sending a very negative message to future Volunteers. It’s understandable that he lost his prize running back, but by not granting a release is really putting a brick wall in the path of Brown’s career.
