On Monday, the Missouri athletic department announced that LB Tyler Crane was booted off of the team for undisclosed disciplinary reasons. Crane did not comment on the news, but looking back on his career, it makes sense why he was dismissed from the team. During his Tiger tenure, he had limited playing time and only amassed 6 tackles in 22 games.
For coach Pinkel and crew, this looks more like a dumping than anything else. With the NCAA harping on programs regarding scholarship limits, Crane’s services weren’t really needed for the upcoming season. The Tigers boast quality and depth in the LB position with Will Ebner, Andrew Gachkar and Zaviar Gooden (a speedy converted safety) leading the way. With Crane’s departure, it opens up another scholarship for Pinkel.
At this point, Crane has yet to announce his intentions, but the Texas native did post on his twitter feed that “Even in my hardest times God will still bless me.”
Here at TheMatador, we wish Crane all the best in his future endeavors.
