Coach Chris Petersen was saddened to learn of the tragic death of his 2011 commit Emil Smith.
It’s a sad day for the Bronco Nation as 18-year-old recruit Emil Smith passed away early Sunday morning after a horrific automobile accident over the weekend. The Boise State commit was a passenger in a speeding car that collided with a minivan on Domenigoni Parkway in Hemet, California. Smith was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead at Menifee Valley Medical Center.
Smith, who was poised to play the nickel position in Petersen’s defense, was recruited by Air Force, Duke, and UTEP, but after attending camp, he feel in love with Boise State and the program.
