Jacob Charest has transferred from the University of Illinois a week after Illini head coach Ron Zook named Nathan Scheelhaase the starting QB for the 2010 season. This news doesn’t really come as that much of a shocker as Charest had become buried in the depth chart over the course of spring practices. Charest is currently at home in North Carolina and hasn’t yet decided if he will enroll at another Division 1 football program where he’d have to sit out next season in compliance with NCAA rules, or if he will take the Division II route and play in the fall.
Charest saw playing time in 4 games with the Illini last season throwing for 382 yards and 2 touchdowns. Illinois will enter fall practices with three scholarship QBs on the roster.
