Ingram is ASWA’s Amateur Athlete of the Year

Mark Ingram, Jr. (#22) adds ASWA athlete of the year award to his list of achievements

More good news is coming out of Tuscaloosa and the Mark Ingram camp. The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) has just named its Amateur Athlete of the year. RB Mark Ingram, Jr. will be honored this Sunday at the ASWA’s annual convention in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ingram earned this award for his fantastic play last season garnering 1,658 rushing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 32 receptions en route to a Heisman Trophy and a BCS National Championship. The last Tide to win this prestigious award was Demeco Ryans in 2005. The last RB to win this award was Bo Jackson.

As Ingram continues to receive more accolades, the pressure to succeed in 2010 continues to mount.
