Kansas is down a star defensive tackle after Jamal Greene was arrested early Friday morning for unlawfully entering an off campus apartment and forcing the residents to lie down at gunpoint. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this incident. After news of the armed robbery broke, head coach Turner Gill immediately dismissed Greene from the team. Yesterday afternoon, AD Jim Marchiony confirmed Greene’s dismissal.
This is a significant loss for the Jayhawks as defensive coordinator Carl Torbush dubbed the senior defensive tackle as the team’s impact player. Former Kansas JUCO transfer Vernon Brooks was also arrested for his involvement in the attempted armed robbery. Brooks was dismissed from the team earlier this year for violation of team rules.
It is clear that Turner Gill is going to try to run a clean program and he will not tolerate any nonsense that may have been swept under the rug with the university’s prior coaching staff.
