This weekend, four Oregon State football players are going to show off their legs in the Pac-10 Track and Field Championships. Keynan Parker (CB), Markus Wheaton (WR), Jordan Bishop (WR), and Obum Gwacham (WR) will all trade in their football cleats for track spikes.
Parker will be running the 100 meters and Wheaton the 200 meters. This is the first time Parker and Wheaton will be competing at the collegiate level in outdoor track. Both athletes ran the 60 meters dash in winter indoor track events. In the last meet, Parker posted a 6.86 while Wheaton edged him out with a time of 6.82. Bishop and Gwacham will both hit the high jump. These two standouts have both cleared the coveted seven foot marker in past jumps. It is anticipated that they will have strong performances this weekend at Edwards Stadium.
Coach Mike Riley will keep a close eye on his players’ performances, because ultimately, they are in Corvallis to play football, not run around an oval.
