Is Kim Kardashian Portugal’s good luck charm?

Kim Kardashian helped Reggie Bush and the Saints win a Super Bowl, can she help Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal win the Cup?

I know a lot of you are on this site only for The Matador’s staple of college football, and I get that. Just think of this as your non-prime time, post-draft, home away from home. I’ll be out of your way in plenty of time for Minnesota at Middle Tennessee on September 2nd.

So, Kim Kardashian is with Reggie Bush and the Saints win the Super Bowl. Does that mean that now that she’s moved on to Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal is going to take the Cup? Probably not; I think there’s a rule that a liaison of some sort (inside the team bus counts) has to take place within 72 hours of the championship tilt (boxing excluded, of course). Besides, Kim Kardashian will already have gone back to Ray J by then…or at least done a sequel to “Working Out with Kim Kardashian.”  Wait, wasn’t that the title of her Ray J flick?  Anyway, she’ll move on (or he’ll go back to Rooney, I suppose). But the whole thing just isn’t going to last until July (championship is on 7/11).

The reality is Portugal has no shot at actually winning the Cup. They’ll get out of their group with wins over the Ivory Coast and North Korea (and a loss to Brazil). But after that, the injuries to FB Bosingwa (out for the Cup, knee – and no, Miguel won’t cut it as a solid-enough replacement) and a potentially less-than 100% Carvalho will limit the team’s success. We’ll see though. Anything can happen.

By the way, if you are a big futbol fan and need to expand your World Cup apparel with team socks, check out my pal Steve Wong’s new line: After all, it will technically be winter in South Africa when they’re playing for the Cup.
