Marshall's DeQuan Bembry makes an ESPN highlight interception in last year's game against Virginia Tech. With Bembry's recent arrest, his playing days are now in question.

Some criminal news is coming out of Marshall University. Two defensive backs, DeQuan Bembry and T.J. Drakeford, were both arrested last night for their extracurricular activities. Though details are unclear, the two ball players are currently residing in Western Regional Jail for felony assault of a police officer and misdemeanor public intoxication.

First year head coach Doc Holliday issued the following statement:

“We had two football players (DeQuan Bembry and T.J. Drakeford) arrested last night by Huntington Police. They have let their team down, their coaches down, our fans down and the Huntington community down. I am extremely disappointed in their actions and the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken once I have all the facts.”

Both players, especially Bembry who was named to the 2008 Conference USA All-Freshman Team, were supposed to make an impact coming into 2010. With their criminal status looming, there is no certainty as to their football careers.
