Rajaan Bennett (1991-2010)
Vandy commit Rajaan Bennett was killed Thursday morning in an apparent murder-suicide. The 18 year old RB from Powder Springs, GA, was shot by Clifton O’Neal Steger, his mother’s ex-boyfriend. The incident occurred around 2:30am Thursday morning. Police were called to the scene where they uncovered the gruesome discovery of the two dead bodies.
This random act of senseless violence is sending shock waves throughout the college football community. Bennett, a standout running back for McEachern High School, committed to Vandy earlier this month. It’s an utter shame that a young man with such promise didn’t even get the chance to even reach his full potential in life.
Words cannot express the sadness and disgust over Bennett’s death. It makes no sense why things such as this have to happen. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bennett family.
