For the Northeastern University fan faithful, it’s hard to say this, but the school is dropping its football program citing financial difficulties. After 74 years of gridiron battle, the bean counters cannot justify running the program as its just too expensive and there is not enough return on its investment.

The Huskies just concluded a 3-8 season with a thrilling final victory over the Rhode Island Rams this past weekend. Unfortunately for the Huskies, this was their 6th consecutive losing season. For the 87 players and 10 coaches who played their hearts out this season, a well deserved round of applause.

President Joseph Aoun and AD Peter Roby assured the players that their athletic scholarships will remain in effect.
