To be Blount, Oregon doesn’t need him

Oregon didn't need the services of Blount to trounce SC, but as the BCS bid is in arm's reach, Blount may soon be reinstated and back on the field.

Chip Kelly is still mum on the reinstatement of Oregon’s LeGarrette Blount. As you recall, Blount in an act of stupidity and cowardliness, was suspended on opening night after sucker punching Boise State’s DE Byron Hout.

Initially, Blount received a season long suspensions, but now that Oregon is starting to gel and is inching its way towards a BCS birth, Kelly is rethinking the severity of the suspension.

The reality of the situation is quite simple, if Oregon was 1-7, Blount would never see the field again, but since the mighty Ducks are 7-1 and atop the Pac-10, maybe it wouldn’t hurt Oregon to have their star RB on the field come bowl season.

After all, it’s all about money. Just ask New Mexico State who earned over $800,000 for taking a beating against Ohio State.
