Notre Dame’s victory over the Spartans (33-30) may prove to be more costly than originally thought. As The Matador reported earlier, Michael Floyd will miss the remainder of the season with a broken collar bone. Now there is question as to the extent of Jimmy Clausen’s toe injury.
During the second quarter of Saturday’s game, Clausen took a bad sack and landed awkwardly on his right foot. Throughout the remainder of the game, he walked with a limp but was able to finish the game.
As of now, Charlie Weis, is telling reporters that Clausen is suffering from either turf toe or an arch problem, with specifics to be determined by an MRI scheduled for today.
The results of the MRI have not been released, but The Matador will keep you updated as to Clausen’s status. It would be a sad state of affairs for the Irish if Clausen cannot continue to play. Let’s hope the injury is not too serious and Clausen can suit up and play when the Irish travel to face rival Purdue on September 26th.
