Lee Corso will return to the set of ESPN’s College GameDay Saturday morning after suffering a stroke on May 16th of this year. The 74 year old former collegiate coach, and Florida State football player, has made great strides in 4 months, but he still has trouble with writing and mobility. Corso is an original cast member of College GameDay, which premiered in 1987, and is arguably the most popular member of the show. The road to recovery for Corso has been difficult but he’s met the challenge head on with a fight.
“I was in a fog. I was bumping into everything on my right side. I didn’t have any balance. I finally got past that. I couldn’t brush my teeth or comb my hair with my right hand, and I needed help in the shower. Memory and comprehension are affected. At first I could read a little, but I couldn’t comprehend.” Corso is known for his animated commentary and he incites the crowd wherever the GameDay crew travels. It will be good to see the Ol’ Coach again on TV this season and we wish him all the best and a speedy and healthy recovery.
