The Colorado Buffaloes continue to take hits. This time, WR Markques Simas (So. 6’2, 215 lbs.) has been suspended by the team. Simas is quick with great hands. He is projected to be the go-to guy this season as the WR position is extremely thin and inexperienced.
Coach Dan Hawkins states the suspension is for violation of team rules. As of now, Simas will miss the first two games of the season against in-state rival Colorado State and then the game at Toledo. Simas will be eligible to return on September 19th against Wyoming.
This hurts the Buffaloes as they have already lost Josh Smith to UCLA. Hopefully, Scotty McKnight and some of their recruits such as Andre Simmons can step-it-up and impress the coaches during camp. If not, Cody Hawkins is going to have a tough time finding an open receiver. As Dan Hawkins states, “we will have to get those young guys ready to go.”
