Coach Walker resigns from DePauw

DePauw, not to be confused with DePaul, is looking for a new head coach. The Tigers’ Matt Walker decided to hang-up his whistle and resigned as head football coach this past Friday. DePauw also needs a replacement to coach the baseball team as Walker also resigned from that post. Robby Long has been named interim head football coach, but no successor was named to coach the baseball team.

DePauw was 8-2 last season and ended the year winning its last four games including a huge 36-14 win over Wabash in the 115th Monon Bell game.

The loss of Walker was a shocker to the school and the program. The players are being notified and updated as to coaching changes. The football team was ranked 19th in the USA Today Sports Weekly Division III Football Preseason Top 25 rankings and 25th in the D3football.com preseason poll, which were released Tuesday.

The Tigers open the season Sept. 12 at Anderson University. The complete story can be found at The Paper.
