WVU's Stedman Bailey (#3) put his hands up after being caught shoplifting at a local Kroger's.

Mountaineers’ wide receiver Stedman Bailey was cited for shoplifting Theraflu at a Kroger’s grocery store last week in Morgantown, West Virginia. Bailey, a Miramar, Florida native, was suspiciously walking around the Patteson Drive Kroger’s when an employee noticed Bailey concealing an over the counter cold medication. A Kroger’s employee approached Bailey, questioned him regarding the medication, and subsequently detained him until authorities arrived.

Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston stated that Bailey was cooperative and did not cause a struggle. He was cited but not arrested for shoplifting as the value of the Theraflu was only $4.99.

This is unfortunate news for the Big East receiving leader who had a stellar sophomore campaign hauling in 72 catches for 1,279 receiving yards and 12 TDs. Coach Dana Holgorsen was made aware of the situation but has yet to take any appropriate action. Due to the nature of the incident, it is likely Holgorsen will handle this situation internally. Bailey should not miss any playing time, but shoplifting medication is not something he wants on his resume.
