Alabama fires PA announcer for music directed towards Auburn’s Cam Newton

Auburn's Cam Newton could care less about what was being played on the PA, he came to Tuscaloosa and showed why he is the best QB in the nation.

When Alabama and Auburn were warming-up prior to the Iron Bowl, one Alabama fan took taunting to an entire new level. The staffer in charge of the pregame music over the Bryant-Denny Stadium public address system played songs aimed at Newton such as “Take the Money and Run” and “Son of a Preacher Man.” Alabama has strict policy on all music and videos played before, during, and after the game. Since those two songs were not cleared by school officials and were obviously aimed towards Newton, the university fired the part-time staffer responsible for playing the unauthorized music.

Fans in Tuscaloosa did get a kick out of the songs as Newton’s father is a preacher and there are pending allegations regarding a $180,000.00 solicitation from Mississippi State during Newton’s recruitment.

What seems terribly odd is Alabama blew a 24-0 lead, yet the school is more concerned about a part-time staffer playing some oldies harmlessly directed towards Newton. Perhaps the school should focus more on who is responsible for blowing the game not the music played.
